Graphics can make or break your package. Add a simple, one-color line art logo or a vibrant, four-color photographic image to your package. Brimar Packaging offers process printing, foil stamping, and embossing for your package, inside and out. Plus varnish, aqueous, UV coatings, and film lamination can be added if needed. The options for your package are limited only by your imagination.
Brimar Packaging does not offer formal graphic design for packages. Although box making is an art, we are not graphic artists. Brimar's team of package experts will assist with your graphics to ensure that your package will look its best.
A layout sheet is a flat drawing of your package containing "die lines" showing where the paper will fold around your package. Its purpose is to allow you to position your art correctly before it is printed. When you order, a Brimar representative will supply you with a layout sheet for your package. This will allow your graphic designer to create artwork to size and in the correct position without costly revisions. Brimar can supply you with layouts for your package drawn on paper or electronically in PDF, AI, or EPS file formats.
Brimar will always supply a graphic proof of your artwork before we manufacture your packages. A "to size", black and white laser proof is perfect for one-color graphics. A "to-size", full-color, high-resolution proof will be supplied for two, three, or four color process printing. Proofing eliminates costly mistakes such as typos or positioning errors. The cost of one (1) proof is typically added to the "prep/plate" charge when Brimar quotes your package. Any additional proofs will be invoiced extra.
If your package requires one-color graphics, you may submit hard art or artwork electronically. If you submit clean, to-size, hard art for one-color graphics, then we will NOT need to supply a proof back to you. If you submit your artwork electronically, then we WILL need to supply you with a proof for approval. Two, three, or four-color graphics must be submitted electronically. Preferably, submit your artwork for your package in a high-resolution, PDF file format. Otherwise, please submit artwork that has been created in a high quality graphics program, such as Quark, Freehand, or Illustrator. All additional proofs, stripping, additional films, and additional preparations for your package will be invoiced extra.
Unlike some of our competitors, Brimar welcomes customer supplied printing for your packages. Supplied wraps must be trimmed to the finished size indicated on the layout sheet, printed on 70 lb. C1S stock, printed grain long dimension, and printed only on the coated side of the sheet. Lastly, please provide at least 20% over the ordered package quantity.
"Plates" is typically a line item on our quotations and invoices that collectively means printing plates, film, and one proof. "Die" is typically a line item on our quotations and invoices that collectively means foil stamping die, and one proof. These are usually one-time charges when buying packages. On re-runs, you will not be asked to pay these charges again. However, plates and dies do not last forever, and will have to be reordered at some time in the future. If you are concerned about these charges, please ask your Brimar representative to explain them in detail. Brimar Packaging will always quote and invoice plates and dies separate from the package price. This way, you own them. It is common for Brimar to include the cost of one proof in the plate or die cost.
Adding graphics will increase your product's value, communicate product information, establish brand recognition, convey marketing messages, and separate your product from your competitors'.
Graphics adds value. A plain package will protect your product, but a printed package will help sell your product. Adding printing will look more professional, which will lead to more sales. Think about selling your product in a plain package. Would sales increase if it looked more professional? Imagine your package with your logo printed on it along with vibrant, photographic images. Would your sales increase? Would you be able to charge more for your product now that you have added value? Will the increase in sales and profits justify the added cost of printing your package? Every application is different. Software products, board games, motion pictures (DVDs), and music (CDs) are a few industries that historically have added value to their products through graphics. Would you rent a movie that came in a blank DVD case or buy a board game that came in a plain white box?
Graphics communicate product information. Consumers want to know what they are buying. Are the batteries included in the box? How much sugar is in this candy? These, and many other consumer questions can be answered by adding graphics to your package.
Graphics establish brand recognition. Your logo or brand name can be added to your package. As consumers walk down crowded retail isles, your brand should be visible on your product so that buyer will choose you over your competition. Brand recognition is important in all industries, but confectionary, board games, and cosmetics are a few industries that capitalize on brand recognition by printing their packages.
Graphics convey marketing messages. Any tag line or symbol that helps sell your product can be printed on your packages. As seen on TV® may be the most recognizable marketing message ever printed on a package. Words like "genuine leather" or "hand-crafted" are used in tag lines on wallet boxes and glassware boxes. Website addresses can be found on almost every printed package you can find. Other products you offer can be shown or listed on the bottom of your package. You can add your own marketing messages to your package through printing.
Graphics separate your package from your competitors'. Brimar has experience supplying packages to wide variety of industries. Allow us to help you determine if graphics are right for you. By quoting different options for your package and explaining the benefits of each, you will make an informed decision that will lead to increased sales and profitability.
